The steps for reading the sensor:

1. Turn on the IR LEDs (optional);
2. Select the pin as output and put it on HIGH;
3. Wait a few microseconds to reach the capacitor at 5V;
4. Select pin as input, with pull-up disabled;
5. Measure the time until the pin detects 0 logically;
6. Close the IR LEDs (optional).

The product is an array of 6 IR reflective sensors designed specifically for the Pololu ZUMO robot. The mode of operation is the same as the QTR-8RC sensor module, based on the discharge time measurement for a small capacitor with a capacity of 1nF. These sensors are more powerful than analog ones because they can help you to figure out exactly where the line is.

The sensors are designed to detect the color of the surface beneath them, differentiating black and white.
