This product is a TCRT5000 Reflective Sensor module. The operation of this type of sensor is very simple and it is based on the infrared radiation property of being reflected by the white color and being absorbed by the black color. In other words, we can measure how much of the radiation emitted returns to the source.

The module is also equipped with a high-precision LM393 comparator useful to transform the analog signal from the sensor into a digital signal. With the help of this we can set a threshold below which we consider that we observe a white line and a threshold over which to consider we observe a black line.
